Intro to Typing

Hello 5th and 6th Graders.

Today, we are going to start learning how to touch type. This is an important skill. To do this, we are going to begin with Peter’s Online Typing Tutor.

I would like everyone to begin with the first lesson: Home Row, Left Hand. If you get really good at it, and can get less than 10 errors in one minute, then you may move on to the next lesson.

Here’s how Peter works:

1. Click here to open Peter in a new window
2. Read the top part of the page
3. Click to start
4. Just start typing exactly what you see. Each letter will go gray as you type it correctly. Don’t forget your spaces!

Try to do these exercises without looking at your hands. The goal is to begin to learn to type by feel.
