Lately, I have been focused not just on technology integration into the curriculum, but also on the evolution of technology and its potential impact on the classroom. Nice to see that the UK has acknowledged that there is a fundamental need to re-focus the literacy skills taught as well as the basic computational skills.

I picked up on this article from the Grown Up Digital blog. According to that post,

Children under 11 in England will soon be studying less history and learning more about modern media and web-based skills…. There would also be greater emphasis on physical development, health and wellbeing. The study’s author spoke about addressing “deep societal concerns” about children’s health, diet and physical activity, as well as their relationships with family and friends. They will be taught about peer pressure, how to deal with bullying and how to negotiate in their relationships.
